Empowering Entrepreneurs for Sustainable Business Growth: Overcoming Ecosystem Challenges in 2024

Between 2019 and 2021, I spoke to over 1,000 businesses and entrepreneurs when I wanted to understand the market and tweak my business plan.

I figured out some pervasive ecosystem challenges plaguing founders in 2024.

Founders say they have difficulty educating people about sustainability and changing their mindsets. This is because entrepreneurs can thrive only when there is demand in the market for more eco-friendly solutions. Big corporations end up greenwashing and capturing the less informed, which could be the general public, who is apathetic towards climate change.

However, such folks would still love informed choices better than imposed beliefs. They are capable of self-learning and evaluating solutions. People need this basic right to decide where and when they want to be eco-conscious consumers, and they love SMOOTH transitions to sustainable lifestyles.

A lack of domain-specific advisors (waste-to-energy, agri-tech, renewables, carbon management) and access to crucial climate industry intelligence create an uphill battle for these young businesses. These challenges underscore the need for strategic planning and market understanding.

Many entrepreneurs have brilliant ideas but often need more business sense, understanding, and discipline. These qualities, along with guided mentorship and directed resources, are beneficial and essential for them to chart a structured path to success. With the right support, they can avoid costly market experiments and irrelevant, hyped advice (that looks good as motivational quotes on the walls) and instead make informed decisions that lead to sustainable business growth.

Founders are overwhelmed as most of their time goes into setting up the right team and incentivising them. They often need to avoid the trap of wrong budget planning and forecasts. They excessively spend on broader marketing and branding instead of figuring out a meticulous sales funnel.
